1940

Built in 1940, the building emerged during a period of revitalization following the devastating 1923 fire that destroyed much of Main Street’s east side. That fire led to stricter building codes and a shift toward more durable stone construction.  The building served originally as a furniture store for locals and visitors, while the top floors served as offices and apartments.

1995

Tim Knight, the restaurant scene isn't just a career—it's a calling.  Opening a restaurant with his cousin on Main Street in Downtown Blowing Rock called “Knights on Main.” The restaurant fueled patron's appetites for almost 20 years, but with the expense of rent and the battles to upkeep a clean and well-working kitchen and with Tim being a young father, The restaurant closed down in 2014 and was vacant for several years.

2022

Real-estate developer, Steve Gillooly purchased the building and invested over $3.5 million to modernize the building while preserving its historic charm.  Taking the building down to the studs, Steve gave the building a modern mountain feel while teaming up with previous restaurant tenant, Tim Knight to open Social on Main which serves both breakfast and lunch. The top 2 floors serve as short term rentals for people visiting downtown historic Blowing Rock.
